Chef Osama's Spaghetti with Meatballs


  • 1          Quaker spaghetti pasta
  • ½         cup Quaker White Oats

For Meatballs

  • 1          tablespoon water
  • 500      grams ground meat
  • ¼         cup onion, finely chopped                                                                           
  • 1          teaspoon parsley, finely chopped
  • salt& pepper
  • 1          large egg
  • 2          tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 2          tablespoons olive oil

for the tomato Sauce                                                                           

  • 2          tablespoons olive oil      
  • ½         cup onion, finely chopped                                                                          
  • ½         teaspoon garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2          bay leaves
  • 6          cups tomato, diced with juice
  • 1          tablespoon basil, finely chopped         
  • 1          teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1          teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1          teaspoon sugar
  • salt& Pepper

Garnish: basil leaves and shredded parmesan cheese

  • Boil water in a pot over medium high heat, season with salt.
  • Add Quaker Spaghetti Pasta and cook for 10-12 minutes, drain and set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  • Combine oats with cold water, set aside till moist.
  • Mix moist oat, beef, onion, parsley and egg in a large bowl, season with salt and pepper.
  • Form mixture into balls (Ice-cream scoop sized) and arrange in baking sheet.
  • Bake meatballs for about 15-20 minutes, remove them and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat, add onions and garlic, Sauté for 3 minutes.
  • Add bay leaves, diced tomatoes with juice and mix.
  • Add meatballs to tomato sauce and simmer for 15 minutes or till meatballs are tender and the sauce is thickened.
  • Stir in chopped basil, season with salt, pepper, sugar, Italian seasoning and chili flakes.
  • Pour sauce and meatballs over spaghetti and toss gently to combine.
  • Garnish with parmesan cheese, fresh basil and sprinkle chili flakes (optional), serve hot.
